The Three Parts of Your Vehicle that Need Your Attention | Steve Landers Collision Center

When it comes to owning a vehicle, regular maintenance can be the difference between a car that lasts hundreds of thousands of miles and a clunker that ends up in the junkyard after a few trips up and down the road. At Steve Landers Collision Center, we know that regular maintenance not only improves the longevity of your vehicle, but it also helps make it safer while on the road. To keep you out of trouble, our team has three places that you should keep an eye on to make sure your driving experience is pleasant.

Oil: While oil changes are one of the most common maintenance jobs on a car, it is also one of the most important. Oil works to lube your engine, reducing wear on the parts that make your vehicle move. As oil ages, its ability to make sure your engine works correctly decreases, potentially causing issues and reducing the engine’s longevity. Make sure to follow manufacturer instructions found in the driver’s manual to ensure your engine stays in top shape.

Belts: Because they are out of sight and need maintenance less often, belt maintenance is often the last thing on your mind. One of the most important belts on your car is the timing belt. Working to make sure the valves in your engine open and close at the right time, broken timing belt can destroy your engine, rendering your vehicle useless. Replace the belt every 60,000 to 100,000 miles to make sure it doesn’t snap when you are on the road.

Spark Plugs: The part that gives your car the literal spark that it needs, your spark plugs can significantly affect how your car runs, from a rough idle to poor fuel efficiency, to a misfiring engine. The rule of thumb is that spark plugs should be changed every 30,000 miles. Keep your car running smoothly and prevent fuel waste with new spark plugs.
