Spring Maintenance

Spring Maintenance for Your Car | Steve Landers Collision Center

As the days grow longer and the weather warms up, it is time to get out and go for a drive. As you rack up more miles on the odometer, giving your car a quick check is a good idea. To keep you on the road and off the shoulder, we have some quick spring maintenance tips for your vehicle!

Check the Battery: Winter is harsh on a battery. Cold weather makes the battery work harder, having to operate parts like the starter and alternator in less than ideal conditions. The more it works, the faster it drains, and as tough as winter is on a battery, summer is even harder. Take advantage of spring to check your battery to make sure you can more.

Test A/C: While your air conditioning may not have gotten a lot of use during the winter, it is important to make sure it is still blowing cold air. It is common in older cars to have A/C leaks, making your drives considerably more miserable as the days warm up. By making sure you’re A/C is good to go, you will be able to enjoy those springtime drives.

Check Tire Tread: As you start to drive more, it is important to make sure your tires are ready for the task. A combination of cold, salt, and other roadway chemicals can wear tires down quickly, making your drive potentially more dangerous. By using the penny check, you can make sure that your tires are ready for the open road.
