Spring Break Destinations

Spring Break Destination Ideas Steve Landers Collision

Spring is right around the corner. For college kids and those of us who have children in school, this season is kicked-off annually by Spring Break – that one week each year that everyone is out of school and looking for something to do or somewhere to go. For most schools in Little Rock, Spring Break starts next week. It is with this in mind that we created this list of places, not too terribly far away, that would be great Spring Break destinations!

Fayetteville, Arkansas

Not wanting to leave the state? Fayetteville is less than a 3-hour drive from Little Rock, Arkansas. Not only are there fun things to do in Fayetteville itself, but this town is also the hub to many exciting things to do around Northwest Arkansas. Checking out the Crystal Bridge Museum is a must, but that is just but one of the enjoyable things to do here during Spring Break.

New Orleans, Louisiana

If you are a “foodie”, New Orleans may be a place for you. While there are tons of things to do, from historical to party central, art and everything in-between – the food is what keeps many people coming back. Muffulettas, gumbo, Beignets & chicory coffee, bananas Foster, po-boys, jambalaya, and some of the best seafood you’ll ever taste are all features of the New Orleans foodie experience. For those who love architecture and the arts, New Orleans will not disappoint.

Branson, Missouri

Branson has tons of family-friendly entertainment and live shows. Zip lines, carnival type rides, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, wax museum, and so much more! You’ll get the feeling of going back in time to more “simpler days”. Enjoy shopping and fun themed food restaurants as well. You’ll also want to check out Dolly Parton’s Stampede while visiting Branson.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

While Oklahoma City may not be the first destination to pop into your head when you think Spring Break and fun, but if you haven’t visited this city in the last 10 years, you have missed a great amount of positive changes. This destination is not only fun, but its affordable. From the Myriad Gardens and the downtown urban scenes to the many artsy districts (including the Paseo District, Midtown, and Bicycle Alley), Oklahoma City has been described (as the “hip affordable place to be that the hipsters have yet to discover and subsequently ruin”. There are lots of museums including National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum (formerly known as the Cowboy Hall of Fame), the Oklahoma City National Museum & Memorial (honoring the honors the victims, survivors, rescuers, and all who were affected by the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995, and so much more!

Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa is a fun and quirky travel destination. Check out the acoustics from the ‘Center of the Universe” or learn about folk music history at the Woody Guthrie Museum. Learn about the 1921 Tulsa Race Riot Massacre in the Greenwood district of Tulsa (once a thriving African American community described as the “Black Wall Street”), the many art deco buildings and architecture, art, and so much more. Tulsa offers much in the way of entertainment and night life as well.

Dallas, Texas

Dallas offers a lot of attractions from outdoor activities, to museums, festivals, nightlife, shopping and shows. You’ll not be short-handed on things to do or see if you choose this city for your Spring Break destination, that is for sure! Trace the tracks of the motorcade where President Kennedy was assassinated and come up with your own theory on whose was behind it all at The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza or try your hand at racing against your friends at SpeedZone. Whatever you decide to do while in Dallas, you are sure to enjoy yourself!

San Antonio, Texas

When you think of San Antonio you probably think of the Riverwalk and of the Alamo – both of which are great spots to see when in this town, however; that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all San Antonio has to offer. There are a lot of historic places to see here, as well as great outdoor things like the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch.

The best thing about all these Spring Break destination options is that you can reach all of them within an 9-hour drive or less from Little Rock, Arkansas.  So why not load up the family, or a group of friends, and make this Spring Break an adventure to remember?
